Is it wrong/stupid for me to stay with my boyfriend?

We were together for 3 years, he had an anger problem, never put hands on me or anything but said mean things sometimes.... I found texts to another girl in his phone about pix trading. Anyway, he swore to me that he never had and never would cheat on me, and he didnt even know who he was texting, that it was a random number or something... anyway, I know this all sounds bad, but I really believe my bf loves me. I think he has severe emotional problems though. We are extremely close to one another, and I tried ending the relationship the last time he exploded on me verbally, and 2 weeks later I ended up mmissing him too much nd he wouldnt stop calling me as usual (100s of times) so I got back with him. He swore to me he would never do anything to hurt my feelings ever again. Is it bad for me to stay with him? I love him so much and can't see life without him. He has begged on hands and knees every time I ever left him and kissed my feet everytime he apologized for saying something hurtful. How should I deal with this from now on? What if he ends up exploding again?
